Welcome to Wandering Wellness Collective

The Wandering Wellness Collective is a group of creative people who are dedicated to offering an inclusive and accessible activity, that seeks to enhance mental well-being through the transformative power of creativity, especially within our most vulnerable communities. We would like the most vulnerable to get involved through creativity and creative expression, to promote and facilitate connection to place and community. We aim to focus on those groups who would benefit most from these activities. Our initiative is open to everyone.

Cheltenham Wellness Walk

We have partnered with The Aspire Group and the children's centre in this area of Cheltenham and created a walk that encourages observation and creativity for all ages. There are maps located in the Aspire Community Centre, The St. Pauls Cafe.  There is a long walk (50 mins without stops) and a shorter walk, indicated by the yellow dotted line for the short cut  ( 30 mins ) to suite all ages and abilities.

Instructions for the walk

As you make your way around the walk, see if you can find the artistic, cultural and nature landmarks we have identified.  To enhance your creative experience, you can download line drawings of some of the landmarks to colour in as you go, or afterwards with a cuppa.  Feel free to take pictures of what you find and create and upload them to #wondering_wellness_walks .

Can You Find These Landmarks?

We have a created a series of prompts and questions to help you locate and think about where you are in the community area.

Mindful Prompts

As you're walking you could try one of the following prompts to experience your walk from a different perspective

> Pick your favourite colour and see how many things you can spot on your walk of that colour

> Take something to draw with like a notebook and pencil. Part way through your walk, look around and take a few minutes to sketch something that catches your eye. Try this a few times as a visual record of the walk

> Listen out for the sound of birds singing. See if you can hear the different patterns, or recognise their songs. You could try an app to record and identify their song

> Walking meditations are available to listen to on apps like headspace or on YouTube. Try listening to one of these as you walk
